Axis Installation

User Manual / Installation guide

It's important to understand that installing a sauna, especially one with electrical components, requires careful attention to detail and, in many cases, professional assistance. Here's a general guide based on information from Symmetry Sauna and general sauna installation practices:

1. Pre-Installation Planning:

  • Site Selection:
    • Choose a level, dry indoor location. Acceptable flooring includes concrete, tile, hardwood, vinyl, or other solid surfaces.
    • Ensure adequate ventilation around the sauna.
    • Consider proximity to a shower or changing area.
  • Electrical Requirements:
    • Infrared Only: A dedicated 120-volt, 15-amp circuit is required. The outlet must be within 8 feet of the sauna.
    • Hybrid (with Traditional Heater): A second dedicated 120-volt, 20 amp circuit will be required. It is highly recommended that the traditional heater is hard wired by a qualified electrician.
    • Professional Electrician: It is strongly recommended that a qualified electrician assess your electrical setup and perform any necessary wiring.
  • Space Requirements:
    • Confirm the sauna's dimensions (both exterior and interior) and ensure you have sufficient space.
    • Allow for some clearance around the sauna for ventilation and maintenance.

2. Assembly:

  • Preparation:
    • Unpack all components and verify that everything is present.
    • Read the manufacturer's instructions thoroughly.
    • Have two people available for assembly.
  • Assembly Process:
    • Axis sauna is designed for relatively easy assembly.
    • The sauna is composed of pre-built panels that fit together.
    • Follow the manufacturer's step-by-step instructions for assembling the panels.
    • Pay close attention to the alignment of the panels and ensure they are securely fastened.
    • Tools needed will mainly be a drill.
  • Electrical Connections:
    • If you are only using the infrared heat, plug the sauna into the dedicated standard outlet.
    • If you are using the traditional heater, this should be wired by a qualified electrician.
  • Final Checks:
    • Ensure all connections are secure.
    • Test the lighting and heating elements.
    • Heat sauna to 160ºF for 3 hours for heater testing.

3. Important Considerations:

  • Manufacturer's Instructions: Always prioritize the manufacturer's instructions. They provide the most accurate and specific guidance for your model.
  • Electrical Safety: Electrical work should only be performed by a qualified electrician. Incorrect wiring can lead to serious hazards.
  • Maintenance: Follow the manufacturer's recommendations for cleaning and maintaining your sauna.
