Speaker Removal / Replacement

Speaker Removal / Replacement

First things first, you will need to disconnect the power cord (thick black wire going from the red box to the wall) from the outlet

Step 1: Preparation and Access

  • Locate the Speaker(s): Identify the speaker(s) mounted on the sauna roof.
  • Gather Your Tools: Have all your tools ready and within easy reach.
  • Clear the Area: Ensure you have enough space to work comfortably inside the sauna. You might need a small step stool or ladder to reach the roof, so make sure it's stable.

Step 2: Removing the Old Speaker(s)

  • Unscrew the Speaker: Using your Phillips head screwdriver, carefully unscrew the four screws holding each speaker to the roof. Place the screws in a safe place so you don't lose them.
  • Gently Lower the Speaker: Once the screws are removed, gently lower the speaker. Be careful, as it will still be connected by the wires and the Molex connector.
  • Locate the Molex Connector: You should see a Molex connector (a small plastic plug with multiple pins) connecting the speaker wires to the wiring in the sauna roof.
  • Disconnect the Molex Connector: Carefully disconnect the two halves of the Molex connector. There might be a small latch or clip you need to press to release the connection. Avoid pulling on the wires themselves.

Step 3: Preparing the New Speaker(s)

  • Unpack the New Speaker(s): Carefully unpack your new speaker(s).
  • Compare Connectors: Check if the new speaker(s) have the same type of Molex connector as the old ones.
    • Ideal Scenario (Same Connector): If the connectors match, you can simply plug the new speaker in.
    • Different Connector: If the connectors are different, you have a few options:

Step 4: Connecting the New Speaker(s)

  • If Connectors Match: Align the two halves of the Molex connector on the new speaker and the sauna wiring and push them together until they click securely.

Step 5: Mounting the New Speaker(s)

  • Position the New Speaker: Carefully position the new speaker over the mounting holes in the sauna roof.
  • Secure with Screws: Align the screw holes on the speaker with the holes in the roof and re-insert the four screws you removed earlier. Tighten them firmly, but be careful not to overtighten and strip the screw holes or damage the speaker frame.

Step 6: Testing the New Speaker(s)

  • Double-Check Connections: Before turning the power back on, visually inspect all connections to ensure they are secure.
  • Restore Power: Plug your sauna back into the outlet and carefully turn the sauna's power back on.
  • Test the Sound: Play some audio through your sauna's sound system to test the new speaker(s). Ensure the sound is clear and coming from both (or all) speakers if you replaced more than one.
  • Listen for Issues: Listen for any buzzing, distortion, or unusual sounds that might indicate a wiring problem. If you hear anything concerning, immediately turn off the power and re-check your connections.

Step 8: Final Touches

  • Clean Up: Remove any tools or debris from inside the sauna.
  • Enjoy Your Music: Once you're confident the new speaker(s) are working correctly, you can enjoy your sauna sessions with sound!
